Plaisance

Situation - the
community of Plaisance is located 10 km from St Sernin, in the valley of the Rance
and 8 km from Coupiac, the 2 most important villages of this canton. The
village is located in the outer corner of the department Tarn. Strange
enough Pleasance, bounded by the right flank of the river, is in the Aveyron
and Curvalle
(left bank) in the department Tarn . The valley of the Tarn connects Albi
with Millau and runs less then 10 kms from Plaisance.
Present -
surrounded by a curve of the Rance and the Roman church that, as the name
indicates, dominated the village offers the village a pleasant setting in
its natural surroundings. The economical life of this country is
dominated by agriculture, but also a decade of handworkers can be found, a
butcher/grocer, also a cannery of duck, a grocery and bar.
Tourist place thanks
to its cultural inheritance but also by its leisure activities that can be
practiced here. walking, a swimming pool, a camp site, tennis, fishing
and petanque. The recreational area of the Horte is located behind the
bridge. On the shaded river banks of the Rance one can camp or pick nick.
Curiosities -
- inheritance : In Plaisance:
the 11th century Roman church of St Martin with the 15th century crucifix
of St Laurent (crucifixes of the Hospitaliers de
Jerusalem). The crucifix of St Eutrope dating from the 15th century, located
at the entrance of the old part of the village, before you reach the
church. A monumental 18th century winepress.
- In Curvalle:
characteristic houses were build on the only street at the bottom of the
rock, where an ancient castle was build.
- In St Laurent: the
old 15th century church , of which the bell tower was recently renovated,
last witness of the commandeer of the Hospitaliers de Jerusalem (see foot

St. Laurent)

the virgin of Curvalle; from which you can see Plaisance in the curve of the Rance
and its church dominating the valley. Puech of Rouquette (Suc d’ Armont - 646 m -
foot path of Suc d’ Armont)
of which one can see the village down in the valley Rance, but also the
landscape behind: the mountains of Lacaune and Lévézou.
