Montclar

Situation - Montclar is located at an altitude of about 600 meters, as its name (clear mountain in French) indicates, ii is a village that can be seen from far, and from which one has marvelous views over the local area. The community is divided in a plateau, soil for corn crop and cattle breeding and the banks of the Tarn where one once cultivated fruit trees and vineyards. It is a transition area between the black soil of Ségala and the red soil of Rougier de Camarès.

Present - Montclar is a community with seven farms, specialized in cattle breeding and milk production. A plumber-electrician-heating technician, carpenter-cabinet maker and a roof maker form together with both shops (grocer-bar and butcher-bar), the economical life of this community. The post office and the school also participate in the daily life of the village.

Two foot paths will enable you to get acquainted with the village: the foot path of la Marquié (departure at the square of Montclar) and the foot path of Saint-Igest (departure at parking lot of St Igest).
